Interstate Waybill Terms, Conditions & Policy

Effective Date: October 2026 · Operating Regions: Benin City, Asaba, Warri, Bayelsa, and major interstate terminals across Nigeria (including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and neighboring cities).

1. Overview & Scope

These Terms, Conditions, and Policies govern all interstate waybill, freight handling, and dispatch services provided by J.A DISPATCH. By booking or sending a parcel via our interstate logistics network—whether through terminal motor park handovers or direct doorstep pickup—the sender ("Customer") agrees to be bound by the terms set forth below.

2. Booking & Cargo Declaration

Accurate Information: The sender must provide accurate sender and recipient contact details, including full name, reachable phone number(s), precise destination address, or preferred motor park/terminal handover point.

Declaration of Contents: Senders must truthfully declare all contents of the package prior to shipment. J.A DISPATCH reserves the right to inspect any package to verify contents for security and compliance purposes.

Prohibited & Restricted Items: The following items are strictly prohibited from interstate transit: explosives, fireworks, firearms, ammunition, and weapons; flammable liquids, hazardous chemicals, and toxic substances; illegal drugs, narcotics, and controlled substances; counterfeit goods, currency, and unregistered high-value bullion/precious metals.

3. Packaging & Weight Guidelines

Sender Responsibility: All items must be securely packaged by the sender to withstand standard road transport conditions. Fragile items must be properly padded, wrapped in bubble wrap, and clearly labeled "FRAGILE."

Perishable Items: Foodstuffs and perishable goods must be packaged in leak-proof, airtight containers. J.A DISPATCH is not liable for spoilage due to unforeseen transit delays beyond our reasonable control.

Weight & Volumetric Rating: Freight charges are calculated based on actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, as determined at our pickup points or intake terminals.

4. Delivery Models & Pickups

J.A DISPATCH offers flexible interstate routing through two main models:

Doorstep Pickup & Delivery: Items collected directly from the sender's location in operating hubs (e.g. Benin City, Asaba, Warri, Bayelsa) and delivered directly to the recipient's address.

Terminal / Motor Park Handover: Items routed to designated motor park terminals or partner hubs for recipient collection.

5. Recipient Verification, Storage & Demurrage Fees

Collection Requirements: Recipients collecting parcels at terminals or receiving doorstep deliveries must present valid identification and the waybill tracking number/code upon request.

Demurrage & Storage Policy: Packages destined for terminal/hub pickup must be retrieved within 24 hours of arrival notification. If a package remains uncollected at the hub center after the initial 24-hour time frame, a demurrage fee of ₦1,000 per day will apply. All collected demurrage fees are allocated directly to the park storekeeper managing the storage and custody of the goods.

Unclaimed Parcels: Parcels remaining unclaimed after 14 days without formal arrangement or communication from the sender or recipient will be subject to long-term storage review or disposal in accordance with applicable local regulations.

6. Rates, Charges & Payments

Payment Terms: All waybill charges must be settled prior to dispatch unless an authorized corporate account agreement is in place.

Waybill Rates: Rates are based on destination, package dimensions, weight, and selected delivery model (Doorstep vs. Terminal Handover).

Surcharges: Additional fees may apply for oversized cargo, special handling, or re-routing due to incorrect delivery addresses provided by the sender.

7. Liability, Loss & Damage

Standard Liability Limit: J.A DISPATCH maintains strict operational protocols to ensure safe transit. In the unlikely event of total loss or damage directly caused by negligence on our part, maximum liability is limited to the declared value of the parcel up to a default cap, provided the item was properly packaged.

Excluded Liabilities: J.A DISPATCH is not liable for: damage resulting from improper, weak, or inadequate packaging by the sender; spoilage or decay of perishable goods due to natural transit timelines; delays caused by factors beyond our control (Force Majeure), including severe weather, road blockades, civil unrest, or statutory government/highway inspections; undeclared or falsely declared items.

8. Claims & Dispute Resolution

Inspection Upon Receipt: Recipients must inspect packages immediately upon collection or delivery. Any visible damage or missing items must be reported to the delivery agent or terminal representative at the point of handover.

Filing a Claim: Formal claims must be submitted in writing to J.A DISPATCH customer support within 48 hours of package receipt or expected delivery time, accompanied by the waybill receipt, proof of declared value, and photographs of the damaged item/packaging.
